Airbus UpNext launched Optimate to go a step further to pave the way for smart automation solutions on commercial aircraft.


The aim is to demonstrate operations and functions from gate to gate to assist pilots, protect aircraft and reduce crew workload in different situations (taxi in complex airport, weather avoidance, etc) . Tests are performed on virtual simulation, integration means (simulator A350, electrical bus with embedded software) and flight test aircraft.

Optimate is searching for a V&V & Test specialist for aircraft control and pilot assistance functions.

This position is within Airbus UpNext (in Saint Martin, Toulouse) and it consists of a CDI-C contract linked to the deliverable of the demonstrator (estimated date September 2026) , starting ASAP.

With the support of specialists in architecture, design, V&V and Test, the test specialist will be in charge of the verification and validation of functions based on data-driven models used for pilot assistance as well as aircraft controls and protections software. It encompasses the preparation, set-up of the test means, the test execution up to flight test analysis.

Mission

The System under test is composed of an in house hardware embedded on aircraft A350-1000 (UpNext bay) with several computers acquiring dedicated sensors to feed the algorithms and interfaces with A/C systems.

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Integration tests of Optimate software
  • Verify and Validate assistance functions from data storage to integrated function
  • Configure closed loop simulation with synthetic images on test rig to validate integrated function
  • Prepare testing scenarios to validate Optimate functions including HMI
  • Perform Test in simulated environment
  • Prepare and validate means for automated non regression testing
  • Participate to test session on integration means with Optimate team to validate integration and functional behaviour with aircraft system
  • Analysis of the test results on various platforms
  • Write test reports for the different successive versions of softwares
  • Document the findings and follow-up the progress

  • Knowledge of System Development and integration Test (system Engineering)
  • Data analyst skills or data driven models testing
  • Aircraft systems & aeronautical background for test analysis
  • Methodic and curious to push the boundaries of testing a demonstrator
  • Fast learning capabilities and autonomy
  • Knowledge of ros2 environment is a plus
  • Passion about technology, science
  • Eagerness to take initiatives to propose simpler and efficient ways of working
