Airbus Helicopters is looking for a Groung Handling & Ground Support Equipment Engineer (f/m) to join our [Department name] based in Marignane, France.

The Maintenance and Ground Operations department is looking for a Development Engineer for the GSE and Ground Handling Team in Marignane (French) .

You will be part of a team of 70 people based in France and Germany, being part of Airbus Helicopters (AH) design office.

This department deals with several activities such as:

  • Ground Handling (GH) : Development of helicopter ground functions (transport through air-sea/road, operation on boat deck , towing, parking, mooring, etc.)
  • GSE: Design and development of Ground Support Equipment (Vehicle or Systems) to perform Ground Handling & helicopters’ s maintenance operation/task at our final customer
  • Maintainability: Helicopter maintainability analysis and influence systems design integration to ensure operational performance
  • Testability: Diagnostics and providing guidance to the customer during troubleshooting phase

The Ground Handling and GSE team is a young and dynamic team that supports both French and German sites needs. Thus, the activity covers all Airbus Helicopters' programs.

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • aPreparation & contribution to the development gates of a helicopters
  • Implementation of technical specification
  • Ensure the completeness of technical documents and harmonization of the content with all stakeholders
  • GSE development, definition and qualification by test on helicopter or bench (play the maintenance task) and Ground Handling procedure (participate and qualify loading and unloading of the helicopter in a plane for exemple) .
  • Manage & challenge subcontractors & suppliers
  • Commit on budget, schedule & content and provide deliverables accordingly
  • Lead problems solving and support lessons learned by capitalization in our technical referential
  • Means & procedure validation to minimize the risk of errors by operators, the good functioning of the GSE (incl. by the application of means like Virtual and Augmented Reality, the mockups of 3D printing)
  • Evaluation and validation of work equipment with regards to the Product Safety Act and the Machinery Directive (CE)
  • You will be in contact with suppliers and final customer representatives.
  • You will work together with the other teams inside & outside the design office directorate. (Support & services, Flight test, Prototype, Production) .

Desired skills and qualifications

  • Mechanical engineer or equivalent.
  • You are skilled in CATIA V5 design and stress calculation.
  • You have 2 to 5 years of experience in development
  • Reliable, independent, and organized way of working
  • Experience in project management will be appreciated
  • Good team spirit
  • A negotiation level in English is essential to evolve within an international project environment.

You demonstrate autonomy, organization and a great sense of responsibility to manage several developments in parallel.

GH & GSE activity is of prime importance because unavailability of the GSE can prevent the delivery of helicopters or cause the immobilization of aircraft in service.

You are therefore able to evolve in a context of urgency.

This position requires a security clearance or will require being eligible for clearance by the recognized authorities.
