Présentation

Description de l'emploi :

As a Distribution Engineer for electric propulsion, you will be part of a multinational team in charge of developing an advanced superconducting and cryogenic powertrain to enable high power electric propulsion systems for aircraft application. It will be composed of a cryogenic DC/DC converter, a superconducting DC network with protections, a cryogenic motor drive, a superconducting electric motor and a cryogenic cooling system developed with partners from worldwide industry and academia, start-ups in a dynamic and emulating environment.

You are passionate about aeronautics, sciences and technologies, have a strong technical background and like to make and test yourself breakthrough technologies on concrete demonstrations. You like difficult challenges and are the type of person who thinks about “how things can be done” rather than “if they can be done”.

This job comes with a 3 years contract (CDI-C) .

Responsibilities:

You will be part of the team in charge of designing, developing and testing an airborne electric DC distribution at cryogenic temperature, consisting of current leads, superconducting cables, as well as protection equipment of the powertrain. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Participating in the design of the electric DC distribution for a megawatt class powertrain and future electric propulsion products.
  • Develop and characterize cryogenic and superconducting components (superconducting cable, cryostat, current leads, bus bars…) and the protection components of the powertrain (fault current limiter, circuit breaker) .
  • Development of demonstrator and sub-demonstrators with respect to project goals and timeline
  • Collaborate with internal teams (mechanical integration, electric propulsion) to enable integration of the electric distribution and powertrain protection components into the powertrain.
  • Simulate and design superconducting DC distribution in nominal operation conditions as well as in conditions with temperature deviation, current deviation or failure.
  • Evaluate the main failure modes, the main critical DO160 criteria and follow tests to characterize them.
  • Integrate and test the components in the cryogenic powertrain.
  • Evaluate performances and potential of superconducting DC link for different propulsive applications.

Your boarding pass

What you bring

  • MSc or PhD in electrical engineering or similar.
  • Working experience and understanding in electric distribution and protection systems for power transmission.
  • Experience in powertrain protection components, in particular fault current limiters, fuses and circuit breaker.
  • Experience in electric distribution development from design to laboratory testing , possibly for aeronautic applications.
  • Experience in cable, connectors and distribution components development.
  • Well-built professional network including industrial players, research institutes, consultants, entrepreneurs.
  • Demonstrated track record of end-to-end project execution.
  • Autonomy, Adaptability, Availability, Accountability
  • Team-Player
  • Analytical mind-set and strong synthesis capacity
  • Hands-on and solution oriented attitude
  • Passionate about technology and science
  • Sharing the values of transparency, courage, humility, empathy

What you get

  • An environment that not only fosters your development in many ways, but also rewards it with plenty of room to grow
  • A shared open space office with highly skilled multicultural teams
  • Ability to craft your calendar with flexible hours/Opportunity to work remotely
  • UpNext communities bonding events
  • A high-achieving, experienced and fun team
