Position overview
We are seeking a motivated and dynamic individual to join our team as a VIE CO2/Sustainability Analyst or Junior Manager. This position offers the opportunity to work directly on critical sustainability initiatives within the steel industry, including carbon management and decarbonization strategies. The role is based at NLMK Europe and will report to the Chief Business Development and Decarbonization Officer.
Key responsibilities
- Engage with and monitor the development of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) : Follow new regulations, assess their impact, and ensure compliance within our operations.
- Collaborate with environmental teams: Work alongside the business units’ environmental teams to establish product carbon footprints and Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) .
- Develop and maintain a carbon management database: Establish a comprehensive carbon management database for NLMK Europe to support reporting requirements, including the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) .
- Support sustainability initiatives: Contribute to major projects such as the promotion of our FORWARD30 decarbonization program and other CSRD-related sustainability topics.
- Analyse competitors’ move and customers requirements in terms of supply chain decarbonization plans
- Work with 3rd party consultants and auditors in the field of sustainability, carbon data management, including issuance of product carbon footprint certificates.
- Stakeholder engagement: Actively communicate with various stakeholders, including customers and suppliers, to promote our sustainability and decarbonization efforts.
- Act as a CO2 expert: Serve as a key resource on CO2-related topics, including Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, for the steel sector and our company.

Profil recherché
Qualifications and Requirements:- Educational background: A degree in environmental studies, economics, business, or a related field.
- Understanding of carbon management topics, including Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions.
- Knowledge of sustainability topics issues such as SBTi, CBAM and CSRD regulations.
- Effective stakeholder management and excellent communication skills to engage with diverse audiences.
Dynamic, outgoing, and driven personality with a willingness to learn and grow.
Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Other requirements: Ability to travel across our business units and customer locations as needed.
