Job Context & Overview :
As part of its ambition to develop short-term market capabilities, BP Romania is launching an intraday power trading activity and is looking for a Quantitative Analyst / Assistant Trader (VIE) . This role is pivotal in building the necessary tools, models, and operational processes to enable successful market participation. It includes identifying business opportunities, supporting the development of trading strategies, preparing business cases (including risk/reward assessments) , and assisting the trading team in their daily operations (P&L follow-up, deals monitoring) . This position involves close collaboration with BP Romania leadership, local stakeholders, and international platforms to align tools and strategies. This is a unique opportunity to explore the energy markets within a dynamic city and growing platform, supported by the attractive conditions of the VIE program. Expected starting date is 1st October 2025.
? In the power sector, intraday trading is essential to manage the real-time balance between electricity supply and demand. Due to frequent reforecasts of production (especially from renewables) and consumption, market participants need to adjust their positions throughout the day to avoid imbalance penalties and optimize portfolio performance..
Key Responsibilities :
- ? ? Design and backtest trading strategies in collaboration with traders, using diverse techniques including machine learning, optimization models and other relevant tools
- ? ? Data collection and models development: Participate in gathering data, their storage and creating associated models to forecast relevant metrics.
- ? ? Create and maintain analytical tools and dashboards to monitor market conditions, forecasts, and key trading indicators in real time.
- ? ? Track portfolio positions and perform P&L et risk analysis, identifying the main drivers of deviations and supporting performance reviews.
- ? ? Collaborate with trading, risk, and IT teams to support the operational readiness of the intraday desk and ensure alignment on data, market risk and strategies execution
Profil recherché
Skills & Professional Background :- Strong Analytical and Quantitative Skills: Proficiency in data science, data analysis. Python proficiency expected. AWS Knowledge is a plus.
- High Level of Initiative and a Proactive Approach to Problem-Solving: Ability to take initiative and solve problems proactively.
- You have quant interest and strong desire to efficiently automatize processes
- Knowledge of Energy Markets or Trading Algorithms/Strategy Development is a plus
- Fluent in English; French is a plus: Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Engineering or university degree in Computer Sciences, Applied Mathematics, Statistics or Economics
