Prepare and execute Factory testing activities to support the USRC project commissioning while working in a test lab environment on target hardware. The USRC is a 6.4 km long complex network for which a signalling system has been installed in the 1920s. Union Station in Toronto, part of USRC, is the largest passenger train station in Canada and the second largest in North America with over 250, 000 people per day; it connects multiple modes of transportation: commuter, intercity, subway, streetcar and bus. With passenger traffic expected to double over the next 20 years, modernization of the stations original signalling equipment is essential. The main role of the VIE will be to witness and/or participate in the testing activities and support the senior engineers. The commissioning activities may involve work in a shift pattern.

  • Prepares and executes testing activities for technologies of railway signaling under the direction of his/her hierarchy and in conformance with Alstom Transport policies and standards.
  • Executes of specific Testing activities according the testing procedure / documentation and Sub-System Team Leader a/o Test manager’s instruction.
  • Adheres to Testing schedules and Testing plans for internal and external customers
  • Performs activities with quality, customer expectations and efficiency in mind such as Test Results reporting, record keeping of results, etc.
  • Uses the correct tools and equipment to perform the electrical and mechanical test activities. Ensures the equipment and tools in their care are calibrated and easily tracked.
  • Uses and adheres to the use of PPE as defined by the EHS plan and customer requirements;
  • Alerts the hierarchical superiors by any risk identified during the testing activities, and alerts management (Sub-System Leader, Lead Tester, Tester In-Charge, Factory Manager) if any EHS risk is identified

Profil recherché

  • 0-2 year experience preferably in testing enviornment.
  • Adaptable to variable Work schedule (morning, afternoon shifts) to support installation / testing activities.
  • Knowledge of rail signaling (moving block / fixed block/CBTC) and other CBTC testing elements considered an asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word)
  • Familiarity with the use of standard Testing Tools (Multimeter, Ohm meter, Oscilloscope etc.)
  • Experienced in writing/checking technical reports and communicating at Technical & Managerial Team levels
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering technology (electrical/computer/computer science) or equivalent
