MSAT organization (“Manufacturing Science Analytics and Technology”) is instrumental to deliver high performing process & accelerate the implementation of new highly diversified modalities & innovative technologies.MSAT is the bridge between R&D and Manufacturing by successfully inventing, designing and transforming manufacturing and analytical processes supporting Sanofi best-in-class ambition.
Your job, as MSAT Viral and Bacterial Center of Expertise Head within our MSAT team will be to create and lead the Viral (excluding Flu) and Bacterial Center of Expertise, integrating a team of around 150 people across multiple locations. Your role includes overseeing industrial process development from Phase 3 to product lifecycle and manufacturing support for viral and bacterial vaccines. As the Head, you will ensure investment in pilot labs for advanced technology, provide a high-performing organizational setup, offer strategic direction for vaccine drug substance processes, . and be the main contact for Marcy Manufacturing &Supply, representing MSAT in site committees.
Main responsibilities:
- Develop and lead integrated teams of biotechnologists, virologists, bacteriologists and process engineers to develop innovative, efficient, cost-efficient, sustainable and appropriately bio-contained manufacturing processes ensuring Growth and Profitability of the Sanofi’s Vaccines portfolio.
- Ensure scientific and technical leadership is provided for commercial products (internal and CMOs) to prevent process related deviations (lead continued process verification, provide multi-site process oversight and ensure efficient routine process monitoring is delivered) , as well as for complex troubleshooting and scientific support required to support discussions in inspections.
- Lead, manage and ensure further development within MSAT internal pilot plant capabilities to produce technical batches as part of industrial development programs.
- Manage a significant yearly budget (OPEX, CAPEX and Project Costs)
- Create and lead a new model within MSAT Viro & Bacterio Platform for partnering with the Marcy M&S Vaccines Site for end-to-end product and project leadership to drive all manufactured products related MSAT topics. Be the unique representative of MSAT in M&S Marcy Leadership Team and the voice of the Marcy Site in MSAT Viro and Bacterio Platform.
- Drive Change and Transformation of the organization to implement the new MSAT Operating model, challenge the status quo and empower teams to focus on delivering business value.
- Lead talent development and ensure performance mindset shift for the Center of Expertise.
About you
Experience: Broad and long-term experience in the vaccines/ biologics/ biochemistry/ pharmaceutical industry in R&D and/or industrial development, industrial operations and GMP considerations, global CMC projects. >15 years of experience in pharmaceutical company

- Strong leadership skills as this position is part of Marcy Leadership team and MSAT Viro & Bacterio Platform leadership team. People development : engage and leverage eveveryone’s strengths while being highly self-aware
- Embrace change management and ability to develop a strong team spirit with people located on different sites, excellent communication and stakeholders management skills
- Strategic thinking: analyzes current and future scenarios, disrupts the status quo with innovation, while remaining pragmatic and focused on priorities.
- Results orientation: Demonstrated ability to drive initiatives from concept to execution. Sense of urgency
Technical skills:
- Strong scientific background in biological processes (CMC development, viro and bacterio process) and products in development, CMC, scale up, technology transfer and operations
- High experience in exposure to change management and transversal collaboration (e.g., projects)
- Education: PhD/Master’s degree in Life Sciences and/ Biotechnology, Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacy or related.
Languages: French and English mandatory
