Missions

Our team is dedicated to advancing the understanding of the complement system and its structural components, with a primary focus on autoimmune and chronic inflammatory diseases. Our current projects explore:

  • The interplay between alarmins and the classical complement pathway.
  • The novel roles of C1 proteases in the development of renal cancer.

Our approach is multifaceted, combining structural analysis and interaction studies with the recombinant production of target proteins, including their fragments and relevant variants, using mammalian expression systems.

Join our research team and embark on a cutting-edge project at the forefront of complement system biology. We are seeking a motivated and talented postdoctoral researcher to explore the antigenic determinants and the pathogenicity of the anti-C1q autoantibodies in a systemic lupus erythematosus – a paradigm of disease of systemic autoimmunity.

You will have the following key responsibilities:

  • Recombinant Expression and Purification of C1q and its fragments: Initiate the project by producing and purifying complement C1q and its variants using advanced recombinant techniques.
  • ELISA Analysis: Utilize ELISAs to precisely identify the domains of C1q targeted by autoantibodies in sera from SLE patients and control groups.
  • Autoantibody Characterization: Conduct in-depth analysis of purified autoantibodies from SLE patient plasma to understand their interactions and implications in the disease pathophysiology.
  • Structural Exploration: Employ complementary structural approaches to explore how C1q conformation modulates epitope access and gain comprehensive insights into the behavior and function of C1q and their perturbation by autoantibody interactions.

Profil recherché

  • Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
  • Strong experience in recombinant protein expression and purification.
  • Proficiency in ELISA and other immunoassays.
  • Familiarity with structural biology techniques will be greatly appreciated.
  • Passion for scientific discovery and a collaborative spirit.
